Spa Therapy’s Sweet Fig Handmade Sugar Scrub

Since I couldn’t continue to steal the Superbad sugar scrub that I bought for the boyfriend, I went back to my first and one of my favorite handmade soap stores, Spa Therapy. Since they do rotate stock in and out on a seasonal basis, I don’t think they’re going with the sugar scrubs right now (I imagine they’re a pain to ship around during the summer) but I did have a good experience when they do offer them. The one that I bought was on sale, or else I might not have ever tried this scent – and that would have been a shame.

Sweet fig compote is certainly not exactly the type of scent that sounds like it would catch my fancy – but it turns out that I was totally wrong. It’s very sweet smelling, but light at the same time, for a combination that is just fascinating.

As far as exfoliation goes, this scrub does a good job at it. It’s a combination of unrefined shea butter, pure cane sugar, oatmeal, and the various oils (olive, sweet almond, and fragrance oil). See all of the great stuff at Spa Therapy’s shop.

Superbad Exfoliating Handmade Body Scrub

Although it might seem impossible, I’ve actually managed to get my boyfriend to use some of the handmade bath and body stuff that I buy from time to time – the Superbad Exofilating handmade body (sugar) scrub is one of them. Now I did have to go for the unscented type, and browbeat him into remembering to use it, but it certainly does a great job at exfoliating. Honestly compared to both commercial and handmade sugar scrubs, this is one of my favorites.

The consistency with the scrub is nice, and I’m always a sucker for good packaging which Superbad has in droves. It’s professional and nice, which I always appreciate.

Although I didn’t get to use the sugar scrub myself too often, it certainly has gotten a thumbs up from the boyfriend, and I’m certainly going to make sure to go for another order when I get a chance. Since I wasn’t sure whether he would go for it or not, I did request a sample size jar – I don’t know if Superbad has any samples listed in the shop, but they’re certainly quick to answer any and all convos so don’t be shy about asking.

Although this review is based on an unscented version, Superbad does cover a lovely variety of scents, with plenty of interesting combinations and whimsical names to go along with them. You can purchase Superbad sugar scrub in the etsy shop.
