I’m going to start this review out simply – Spa Therapy’s Ginger Vanilla handmade soap is my favorite handmade soap. Ever. This was the second soap that I ever bought, after Spa Therapy sent me a sample of it with my original order. The scent is simply divine – a mix of ginger and clove and vanilla. The lather is excellent, and the seller is about 45 minutes from my house so that certainly helps too
This is a seasonal scent for Spa Therapy, so they aren’t currently for sale, but Spa Therapy has plenty of handmade soap to check out.
Although Amethyst Soap is better known for their soap that looks like amethyst (who would have thought?) the soap of theirs that I went for first was the turquoise soap. In a nutshell – visually, the soap is very impressive. It does indeed look very close to its namesake gemstone, and if I was going for decoration I would certainly enjoy this soap.
According to Amethyst Soap, the soap begins life as a glycerine soap that then has Shea butter, apricot kernel oil, coconut oil, and neroli oil. The essential oil added is cinamon and peony fragrance oil, and the specs that you see that are the turquoise matrix are made of cinnamon and orange peel.
I have to admit that as much as I wanted to love this soap, I was not really a fan of the scent or the lather. The lather was much lower than I expected, and I was just not digging the scent what so ever. Since I have enjoyed other Amethyst Soaps, I’m going to chalk this one up to a personal preference difference.
You can buy turquoise soap at Amethyst Soap’s etsy shop in a variety of sizes, starting at a 1 oz starter up to multiple soap packages.
